Dear Friends, Students and Teachers,

On November 13 – 15 Curtis Sensei led the final HKF seminar of the year. the 2009 Omiki Seminar is a time where Curtis Sensei thanks all the students for their hard training and inspires them to continue on their journey. Some questions arose on what Omiki is and where it comes from. Of course this is a tradition that was passed down from Tohei Sensei to Suzuki Sensei who shared it with many of you as well as Curtis Sensei. This tradition has been a regular ceremony on Maui and now is a regular ceremony with HKF. The origins of Omiki come from Shinto. Omiki means Sacred Rice Wine. This sake is poured by the teacher for each student at the beginning and end of the year. Please enjoy the passionate discussion that Curtis Sensei provides in this seminar podcast.

aloha,

The Moderator
